Waste Management
Waste management to protect natural resources is top priority for "Fraport Twin Star Airport Management" AD.In this context, there is a program for waste management developed for both airports in Varna and Burgas. The main objective of the company is to reduce and limit the waste of airport activity as a priority to examine all possible alternatives for the recovery and recycling of waste already formed. The company implemented separate collection of waste: paper and cardboard, cans and plastic products, and their respective recycling program in order to fully reuse. The waste generated from Burgas Airport is mostly from areas in service of passengers, baggage, cleaning, building maintenance and construction of infrastructure. All waste is separated at source, by type and composition and it is collected and transmitted to the appropriate treatment, recovery or disposal in accordance with the regulations. There are organization and coordination for separate waste collection implemented in the Company. It is not allowed to mix different types of waste - solid, construction, industrial, and dangerous on the territory of the airport. There are no cases detected of mix of solid with liquid waste. In this regard, a certificate has been granted for activities with waste from the Ministry of Environment and Water.
